Stress Relief

  • While the stress hormone Cortisol serves an important purpose in our bodies, too much of it (from extended periods of high stress levels) is counter-productive to the Immune System and has been clinically proven to slow the metabolism, yet can make you feel hungry more often.
In modern times stress is considered a normal part of life for most of us, and is often considered a hallmark of hard work and productivity.  Mental and emotional stress is linked physiologically (the mind-body connection) with adrenaline and cortisol.  Too much cortisol and adrenaline can make it more difficult to think clearly or relax to get a good night's rest.  When we experience high levels of stress for prolonged periods of time our body pumps Cortisol and Adrenaline into our bloodstream; these hormones actually deplete our energy faster and perpetuate the hyperactivity of the Nervous System.  If these experiences sound familiar a massage may be just what you need to feel better!

  • Massage has been proven to reduce symptoms of depression, sleeplessness, anxiety and emotional distress while also helping to ease pain and muscular tension.  Feel more relaxed, in control and less stressed.
By getting massage on a regular basis you reduce the amount of Cortisol your body produces, and elevate the amount of beneficial hormones, neurotransmitters (DHEA, serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin) and endorphins (known as the body's natural "pain killers") which help you to feel better overall.  With regular massage Immune function is boosted; many people sleep more soundly and notice they have greater range of motion and mobility after getting massage.
